While the globally-recognized sport of mixed martial arts has clearly replaced the once beloved sport of boxing in the hearts and minds of many fight fans, BetUS boxing bettors will be back in paradise when Amir “King” Khan (25-1-1, 17 KO’s) squares off against Zab “Super” Judah (41-6, 28 KO’s) in a junior welterweight title fight this Saturday.
The pair will get it on in a ‘prime time’ title unification bout on July 23, at 10:00 PM ET live on HBO from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
When: Saturday, July 23

While there haven’t been many ‘big name’ fights this year outside of Bernard Hopkins versus Jean Pascal on May 21, Carl Froch against Glen Johnson June 4 and Wladimir Klitschko against David Haye July 2, this big –time title fight between two ‘little’ guys is undoubtedly worthy of the publicity surrounding it.
Making things even better for BetUS boxing bettors that are looking to increase the annual betting bankroll is the fact that I’ve got the scoop on just which boxer will walk away victorious.
With that said and fight night drawing near, let me get down to business.
Zab Judah
Age: 33
Record: 41-6, 28 KO’s
Height: 5’ 7.5”
Reach: 72”
The Scoop: Zab Judah has won five straight fights since suffering a decision loss to Joshua Clottey in August of 2008 and won the IBF light welterweight title in March by beating Kaizer Mabuza in Newark New Jersey.
Judah has a surprisingly long reach despite standing just 5’ 7.5” but is also nine years older than the 24-year-old Khan.
Amir Khan
Age: 24
Record: 25-1-1 17 KO’s
Height: 5’ 10”
Reach: 71”
The Scoop: Amir Khan has won seven consecutive fights since suffering his only career loss back in September of 2008.
The wiry Englishman packs a wallop of a punch, having knocked-out a whopping 17 fighters in his 25 victories, but will have a slight reach advantage in this fight despite having a nearly three-inch height advantage over Judah.
Khan beat Paul McCloskey via decision in April and has been trained by one of the best in the business in the widely-respected Freddie Roach since suffering his only loss almost three years ago.
Prediction: I used to really like Zab Judah when he was in his prime, but that was a long time ago and now, I just can’t see the aging fighter winning this fight over a younger, stronger and faster boxer in Amir Khan.
Even in beating Marcos Maidana in March, Judah had to pick himself up off the floor to get the win. While some may think that shows his courage, I believe it also shows his declining skill level.
Sure, Zab Judah has won five consecutive fights coming into this bout, but the fact of the matter is that none of the five fighters presented much of a challenge for the now, 33-year-old fighter.
The younger Amir Khan has all of the advantages in this fight pointing clearly toward him as he comes into this bout as the faster, stronger … and more determined fighter.
This fight is being hyped up as a top-notch pairing, mostly because of Zab Judah’s ‘name’ but the reality of the matter is that the aging champ is not the fighter he used to be … and one that is not in Amir Khan’s class.
Bet on Amir Khan to get the job done and push Zab Judah another step closer toward retirement. As far as the Over/Under Total is concerned, I like the Over here BetUS boxing bettors.
Zab Judah has been stopped short of the eight rounds just once in his career and is still wily and crafty enough to avoid the big KO from Khan before the eight round in this bout.
